First Annual Dinner and Auction
The Iron Cross Foundation (ICF) held its first annual Fundraising Scholarship Dinner and Auction on Saturday, November 1st in Renton, WA.
The event featured a silent and live auction with the entertaining Marcus Walker as auctioneer. Logan Melander, ICF’s 14 year old founder, welcomed guests, spoke about why he started the foundation, and introduced the first scholarship recipient, Cameron Miller from Cascade Elite Gymnastics. Cameron shared with others about the importance of ICF from the perspective of a young gymnast who is now able to continue in the sport with the support of the organization.
Gymnasts throughout the Puget Sound area came
together to volunteer their time helping to set up, serve, and clean
up the event. Gyms represented included
Black Hills
Gymnastics in Lacey,
Metropolitan Gymnastics in Kent,
Grace Gymnastics in
Lakewood,
Northshore Gymnastics in Woodinville and
Cascade Elite Gymnastics
in Montlake Terrace. In addition, members of the Washington
Gymnastics Judges Association were present demonstrating
their support for ICF.
Many thanks to all of our guests who helped us raise one full
scholarship in the “Raise your Paddle - Funded Item” of the live
auction! We are also excited that ICF will soon be a matching funds
recipient for Microsoft and will be receiving a substantial donation
in early 2009 from a Microsoft employee. We look forward to formally
announcing the newest ICF scholarship recipients at the Cold Turkey
and Washington Open meets at the beginning of the Washington state
competition season!
